Boston-based cybersecurity firm ShieldForce has launched a new protection service in Nigeria to defend individuals and organisations against online attacks, including malicious links, ransomware, password and credential theft, and insider threats. The company unveiled a new product called the ShieldForce Cybersecurity Protection Packages in partnership with Softwareshop Limited, the sole distributor of ShieldForce cybersecurity services in Africa. The product was unveiled recently at an event in Ikeja, Lagos.

Rising Cybercrime Losses

The launch comes as cybercrime losses continue to climb. The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) recorded about $20.8 billion in reported losses in its 2025 report, most of it from victims in the United States. Nigeria has seen a rise in attacks across the banking, telecoms, healthcare and government sectors, leading to financial losses, leaked data and damaged reputations.

Cybercriminals are also changing tactics. Rather than breaking through institutional defences, many now target individuals with harmless-looking links that can give an attacker access to a personal computer with a single click. ShieldForce says its new service is built to close that door.

AI-Powered Protection for Individuals

Speaking at the event, Mr Akor Akazue, Software Engineer and Web Application Support Executive at ShieldForce Corporation, said ShieldForce serves businesses from a business-to-business model but is now launching a business-to-customer model. The new initiative allows individuals to install the ShieldForce software on their computers.

"ShieldForce is not just a company. We have positioned ourselves to help individuals protect their laptops and systems from cyber-attacks," he said. "Today's threats go beyond what traditional antivirus was built to handle. What we now face are systematic cyber-attacks, and that is what ShieldForce was built for, with an AI-powered solution that detects threats to your laptop or personal computer."

According to him, the software uses artificial intelligence to detect behaviour associated with malware and ransomware, so users do not need to monitor their own systems. "If there is an attack, we can give you a breakdown of what happened, how it came about and how to fix it," he said.

Akazue explained that the software checks links on a user's computer in real time to flag phishing attempts, while its Extended Detection and Response (XDR) coverage protects systems against ransomware and malware. "Even if your system breaks down or suffers a virus attack, we can give you a history of what happened, where it happened and where it came from," he said.

Product and Pricing

The package costs ₦65,000 a year and is among ShieldForce Corporation's Cybersecurity products. The company is a subsidiary of EPINEC Cloud Solution. Each pack is a three-in-one bundle that protects up to three devices at once, and the software is available in two editions.

Mrs Peace Nwangere, the Company's Pre-Sales Consultant, said ShieldForce provides cybersecurity solutions to businesses and individuals, helping customers stay resilient against malware, scams, ransomware and other cyber-attacks. "With the ShieldForce Cybersecurity Protection Packages, we will help you detect fraudulent activity, know where it is coming from and how to stop it," she said.

"As a personal user, for government offices, NGOs, everybody can use this software," said Mr Austin Agbakor, CEO of Softwareshop Limited.

Partnership with Softwareshop Limited

At the event, Softwareshop Limited signed a partnership agreement with ShieldForce Corporation, making the firm the official go-to-market partner for ShieldForce in Ikeja Computer Village. Softwareshop is a Microsoft-licensed Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) serving businesses and individuals.

Agbakor said Softwareshop carried out research on the Nigerian market last year and submitted its proposal to EPINEC Nigeria. He added that dealers do not need to be software specialists to benefit. "You don't need to be a software seller to make money from this product," he said. "We have a very large reward system and a referral package."
